Dear Friends,
As you know, there was a bit of a controversy over erecting the big Menorah in downtown this year. Thank G-d, it has all worked out fine and we will be having the menorah up and lit throughout Chanukah as in years past.
However, we are not just settling for ‘back to normal.’ We're going to something big. Really big!
The Lubavitcher Rebbe of blessed memory taught us that when faced with adversity, on must endeavor to rise not merely back to status quo, but to greater heights than before. That way the adversity itself becomes a tool for goodness, by becoming the impetus to greater good than before. Light comes not only after the darkness, but from within it!
In light of the above, we’re throwing a party! A grand Chanukah CommUNITY Concert.
At the Vets Hall in downtown – just a few steps from the beautiful Menorah, we’ll enjoy Chanukkah food, fun and an unforgettable performance by 8th Day – a one-of-a-kind Chassidic rock band.
This is a great opportunity to channel much of the emotion and energy of the past weeks into something beautiful and good. Please join me in spreading the word about this event and bringing as many members of our Jewish community – and beyond – as possible.
I am going to need all the help I can get to make this the extraordinary event it should be. Let’s bring the community together! Please help put out the word and spread the light!
Thank you in advance for your help and looking forward to seeing you there.
Sincerely,
Rabbi Yochanan Friedman
